The stand-out thing for me is the smooth mid range ....absolutely lushious.
I recorded the MK219 today through a Neve 5012 pre and with a touch of compression on a Neve 5043 comp....no EQ
I have to say I'm really really pleased. The lower mid-range is very present and amazingly free of that muffly low-mid "blanket" that I hate. The high mids are open and clear as a bell, but with no boxiness and no honk...just a great even sheen...if I can coin a term.
The highs are very articulate without being harsh in the least...siblance is a non-issue, and more air is certainly obtainable with a narrow Q boost around 12-15khz...if ya wants it.
So far, with my voice, I've not noticed much need to roll off the low end at all...a very true and detailed mic...I'm gobsmacked.
I've never used a highend Neumann...or highend anything really...so my comparisons are in a limited circle...but I have to say this mic is a sweet little item. I'll post some stuff soon. I already know that this will be a go-to mic for me....especially for certain genres and styles of my stuff. |
