MJE-384K "Roadster" - Capsule Pair for NT5 $379.00
by Francesco Perlangeli
Dear Michael,

I finally managed to try your 384K\'s ... I haven’t been so excited while listening to a pair of new (to me) mics in a long time ... their off-axis response is so precise and smooth that it’s truly hard to believe.

I used them as woodwind section mics, in a 70 piece orchestra about 5ft high and 5ft apart. The pair works so harmoniously, width and depth are truly remarkable.

They also worked beautifully on accordion, not too thrilled with the results on timpani, where I promptly replaced it with a schopes mk 21.

I find your 384k not the fastest on transient response, which makes them “musical” and full of vibe.

To be honest I’m not fond of the comparison with the usual km184 ( not my favorite), perhaps the km140 would be a more worthy (and less popular) competitor and they are not going to replace the mk4’s or mk21’s, the 384k’s have a place of their own.
