I have a project studio, where I record bass, guitar, keys, vocals, balafon, drums, and lots of percussion. My mic locker is full of Audix mics, which are great for close mic\'ing drums and percussion. However, the Djembe is my main instrument, and the Djembe is one of the most challenging instruments to record, due to its huge tonal range and sound projection.
The MJE - v250 finally changed my world.
I have two MJE-v250s and I am very happy with them.
I can now record in mono or stereo and finally record the Fullness of my Djembe sounds, quickly and easily. I can even stand up with djembe and move around until I find the sweet spot, which is the perfect balance between the bass, mid, and high tones. I sometimes also use two MJE-v250s with a pair of Blue Hummingbirds on top, to blend in some more sparkle from the high end harmonics ( I\'m sure MJ has something that sounds comparable).
I am about to record 3 djembe parts tonight. I\'m excited.
Thank you Michael Joly ! Great Work !
