Ribbon microphone repair service for popular Chinese-manufactured mics. (Contact me for an estimate on other ribbon mic types) New ribbon made of 1.8 micron, 99% pure aluminum leaf is individually cut, corrugated, installed and tensioned.
Short of having a mic with no output due to a blown ribbon that needs repair, your mic may still need work....
... 80% of the three hundred or so Chinese-manufactured ribbon mics I've seen have arrived at my shop with severe "ribbon sag" - ribbons sagging with 80% of their length out of the magnet gap. Output level and linearity suffer as a result. A mic with a ribbon in this condition should be repaired.

Stock Mic with Ribbon Sag
Here's a quick way to tell if your ribbon mic needs repair - while listening in headphones, rock the mic toward and away from you in an 180 degree arc so it comes to rest with the ribbon parallel to the floor. If the ribbon is stretched and sagging severely it will either drag against the magnets and create a clanging metallic sound or a sudden "clunk" as it flops back and forth. Not good.
