New MJE Ultimate SDC Mod CM-90 with DirectSound capsule housing mod
Inspired by the legendary KM 84 -
The Ultimate SDC Mod CM-90 features two capsule innovations - my "DirectView" capsule mod removes diaphragm setback coloration and a new backplate design eliminates the peaked and harsh top end found in the stock Nady CM-90.
No edginess / more sparkle!
The MJE Ultimate SDC Mod CM-90 delivers a smooth and sparkly sound. It has 3 dB more “sparkle” in the very top octave from 8kHz to 16kHz without the excessive 7-9kHz peak found in the KM 184. The results sound more like the Schoeps CMC6 / MK4 in fact.
Premium Electronics Upgrade -
The next step toward world-class SDC sound is provided by my field-proven Premium Electronics upgrade package. These component upgrades and topology changes extend bass, reduce midrange graininess and make the top end smoother.
Complete Rebuild -
To deliver these benefits the stock Nady CM-90 is completely rebuilt. The PC is board is upgraded with my Premium Electronics suite. The capsule housing is re-machined with the MJE “DirectView” mod to eliminate diaphragm set back coloration. A new diaphragm, hand-selected for flattest HF response is installed. The new advanced-design MJE backplate is used to build up the modified capsule. Once re-assembled, the entire capsule is tuned to an ideal capacitance for greatest sensitivity and output.
